The GM1500 is an ultra-small, low quiescent current, low dropout regulator (LDO). The device is capable of 700mA of output current, has an input range of 0.75V to 5.5V and an output range of 0.5V to 3.7V, and has an extremely high accuracy of 1.5% over load, line, and temperature. This performance is ideal for powering microcontroller (MCU) core voltages and analog sensors.
The main power path is through VIN, which can be connected to a supply that is only 150mV higher than the output voltage. The device uses an additional VBIAS rail for powering the internal circuits of the LDO to support very low input voltages. The IN and BIAS pins consume very low quiescent currents of 6.8µA and 26µA, respectively. The low IQ and ultra-low dropout characteristics help improve efficiency in power-sensitive applications. For example: the supply voltage of the IN pin can be the output of the DC/DC, while the BIAS pin supply voltage can be a battery.
The GM1500 is equipped with an active pull-down circuit to quickly discharge the output when in the disabled state and provide a known start-up condition.
The GM1500 is available in a 6-pin 2.00mm × 2.00mm DFN package for space-constrained applications. The GM1500 can replace several models such as TI's TPS7A11.
