This certification accelerates the development of commercial ultra-wideband accessories for iPhone and Apple Watch
BEIJING, China – July 26, 2022 – Qorvo®, a leading provider of innovative RF solutions that connect the world, today announced that it has completed MFi certification of its ultra-wideband solution for interoperability with the Apple U1 chip used in supported iPhone and Apple Watch models .* The Qorvo ultra-wideband solution complies with the Nearby Interaction accessory protocol, making it easy for developers to design new commercial ultra-wideband accessories that take advantage of the advanced location, direction and proximity capabilities of a U1-equipped iPhone or Apple Watch model.
New background interactions in iOS 16 enable apps to trigger real-time events, such as turning on lights or playing music, even when the user is not interacting with the app. As a result, developers can take full advantage of the power and precision of ultra-wideband technology from Qorvo to create innovative products and accessories that interact seamlessly with their environment.

Qorvo 's DW3110 is an integrated pulse radio ultra-wideband wireless transceiver with Nearby Interaction firmware and is now Mfi-certified . Developers can immediately begin designing ultra-wideband-enabled products using Qorvo's portfolio of available modules and development kits based on the DW3110. Qorvo products are also compliant with the IEEE 802.15.4z standard, and Qorvo UWB hardware and software solutions are developed in accordance with the FiRa Alliance PHY and MAC specifications.
