According to the US iPhone sales data for March shared by Consumer Research Intelligence Partners (CIRP), the 5.4-inch iPhone 13 mini is still unpopular with customers.
Of all the iPhone 13 models, the iPhone 13 mini had the smallest sales share, accounting for only 3% of total iPhone sales this quarter. In contrast, the other iPhone 13 models were more popular and had their largest share of US sales in years.
All four iPhone 13 models combined account for 71% of iPhone sales, with the 6.1-inch iPhone 13 accounting for 38% of sales. The iPhone 13 Pro and Pro Max, while not as popular as the iPhone 13, are selling much better than the iPhone 13 mini.
In the same period last year, iPhone 12 models accounted for 61% of total iPhone sales, so the iPhone 13 models performed better. The iPhone 13 also had the strongest sales of all iPhone models in March, beating out the iPhone 11 and iPhone 12.
The 5.4-inch iPhone 12 mini and iPhone 13 mini have been relatively unpopular since their launch, with poor sales indicating that most consumers do not want a smaller iPhone.
According to reports, in 2022, Apple will discontinue the 5.4-inch iPhone size with the launch of the iPhone 14 series. Apple will release a 6.1-inch iPhone 14, a 6.1-inch iPhone 14 Pro, and a 6.7-inch iPhone 14 Pro Max.
