According to MacRumors, after Apple's macOS 12.3 official version update was released on March 14, some Mac users encountered problems with game controllers after installing the new software.
Complaints on Apple's developer forums and Reddit indicate that some Xbox, PlayStation, and other third-party controllers are not functioning over Bluetooth. It appears that not all users are affected, as some say their controllers are operating as expected, so it's not quite clear what's going on.
Those who are experiencing issues are connecting a game controller to their Mac using Bluetooth and then are unable to use the controller in Mac games. Some users with controller issues are able to use the controller on the web, but for some users, the controller simply doesn't work. Here's what Apple's developer forums say:

Those experiencing issues with their controllers have tried removing the controller from the Bluetooth menu and reconnecting it, but this doesn't seem to resolve the issue. Currently, there is no known fix for the problematic controllers, so this may be something Apple will have to address in a future software update.
