On March 1, according to XDA, LG announced its withdrawal from the mobile phone market in 2021 and promised to continue to provide software update support for existing devices.
LG said that it will provide three years of Android update support for all high-end models after 2019, and two years of Android update support for mid-range and low-end models after 2020.
Now LG's LG Velvet is about to be upgraded to the Android 12 operating system. LG said that LG Velvet will receive the Android 12 update in the first quarter of 2022.
It is worth noting that LG Velvet has multiple versions, including Snapdragon 765G version, Snapdragon 845 version and Dimensity 1000C version. Among them, the Snapdragon 765G version will be the first to receive the Android 12 update.
In addition, with LG's exit, the mobile phone industry has lost another player. LG explained that due to the long-term slump in the company's mobile phone business sales and the fierce competition from industry rivals, its mobile communications department will no longer produce and sell mobile phones.
Industry insiders said that the cold winter of the mobile phone market has arrived, and the global smartphone industry has entered the second half. The Matthew effect has intensified, the strong have become stronger, and it has become more difficult for the weak to survive.
