Samsung Electronics said on Wednesday that its semiconductor manufacturing plant in Xi'an, China has resumed normal operations.
According to Reuters, due to the surge in COVID-19 cases and strict control in Xi'an, Samsung Electronics temporarily adjusted the operations of its semiconductor manufacturing plant in Xi'an last month to protect the safety of employees as much as possible. At the same time, Samsung Electronics took all necessary measures, including using its global manufacturing network, to ensure that customers are not affected by the suspension of operations.
It is understood that Samsung Electronics' layout in Xi'an is mainly NAND Flash, with a monthly production capacity of about 120,000 pieces in the first phase and about 130,000 pieces in the second phase, accounting for 42.3% of the company's NAND Flash production capacity and 15.3% of its global production capacity. In addition, the company is continuing to expand in Xi'an, with the goal of establishing a 96-layer V-NAND production base in China, but the progress has been delayed due to the epidemic.
