As MediaTek and Qualcomm have successively released their own 4nm process chips: Dimensity 9000 and Snapdragon 8 Gen 1, Samsung is also about to bring its first 4nm process chip "Exynos 2200". However, there have been recent reports that the performance improvement of Samsung Exynos 2200 is not significant and is far below expectations.

It is understood that at the beginning of last year, Samsung announced that it would cooperate with AMD to jointly develop a new generation of flagship chip Exynos 2200. The most important core is to integrate AMD's RDNA2 GPU IP into Exynos 2200 to fill Samsung's shortcomings in GPU.

On December 21, Samsung Exynos’ official Weibo account released an animated short film, in which the number “2200” appeared prominently. Many netizens speculated that Samsung Exynos 2200 would be released soon.

However, according to the latest leaked information, the performance of the Samsung Exynos2200 chip is about 5% higher in CPU and 17% higher in GPU than the current Samsung Exynos2100 chip.

Familiar users should know that compared to Samsung Exynos 990, Samsung Exynos 2100 has 30% and 40% improvements in CPU and GPU respectively.

In comparison, the improvement of Samsung Exynos 2200 is quite small, and many netizens complained that it was a "toothpaste-like improvement". The only real improvement is that the NPU has been enhanced by 117%, and the AI performance has also been greatly improved.

Galaxy S21 Ultra

The author believes that with the release of MediaTek and Qualcomm Snapdragon's new generation of flagship chips, Samsung Exynos has been slow to release a new flagship chip. In addition, there have been reports that Samsung has increased its purchases of Qualcomm Snapdragon processors, and its use in the upcoming Galaxy S22 series of smartphones will naturally be questioned.

The authenticity of the improvement is unknown, but according to Samsung's plan, the new Galaxy S22 will be equipped with the Exynos 2200 processor, and it is expected to be put into mass production and commercial use in February this year. As for the specific performance of this chip, it will naturally be revealed at that time.
