App Store removes 420,000 apps for non-compliance with App Tracking Transparency rules

      According to data from Appfigures, an application market research company, there were 2 million applications on Apple's App Store in April this year. In July, this number decreased by about 420,000 to 1.6 million. The reason is that these applications have not been updated and do not comply with Apple's "App Tracking Transparency" (ATT) regulations.

　　Appfigures CEO Ariel Michaeli said, "Normally the number of apps in the App Store grows by 1%-2% per month. In June, about a month after the introduction of AT&T, the number of apps and games in the App Store decreased by 420,000, accounting for 21% of the total number of apps."

　　According to AT&T, apps need to get user approval before tracking users, and app developers must update them. Michaeli said, "It is clear that hundreds of thousands of app developers do not take AT&T seriously or are too lazy to update their apps and games."

　　The removal of hundreds of thousands of apps shows that Apple is serious about protecting user privacy, and also reflects the current situation in app development, management, and operations.

　　The reality is that most of the apps that have been removed have received almost no attention and no downloads. They are basically abandoned apps: they cannot bring profits to developers and are just "waiting to die" in the App Store. Some apps are developed by amateur developers. In other words, apps with a large number of users are basically not removed.
