Today, Samsung announced that it has successfully developed the industry’s first 14nm-based next-generation mobile DRAM - LPDDR5X (Low Power Double Data Rate 5X), and said that its 14nm LPDDR5X has greatly improved "speed, capacity and power saving" characteristics.
Previously, Samsung developed its first 8Gb LPDDR5 DRAM in 2018. Data released by Samsung showed that LPDDR5X runs at the fastest speed among Samsung's existing mobile DRAMs, up to 8.5Gbps, which is about 1.3 times faster than the previous generation LPDDR5, which runs at 6.4Gbps.
IT Home learned that Samsung's product uses 14 nanometer technology. Compared with LPDDR5, the power consumption of LPDDR5X can be reduced by about 20%.
In addition, Samsung has developed a single-chip capacity of 16Gb (gigabit) and expanded the total capacity of mobile DRAM packages to 64GB.
Starting from the end of this year, Samsung will provide solutions for customers' next-generation technologies through technical collaboration with global IT customers and transform them into a new product lineup.
