Data shows that in the first half of 2021, BOE's flexible display market share ranked first in the domestic industry and second in the world. It not only achieved large-scale mass production and product launch of the country's first OLED flexible folding screen, but also launched a number of world-leading flexible folding products in various forms including inward folding, outward folding, and sliding screens. Many world-renowned mobile phone brands have adopted BOE's flexible displays.
In addition, Qin Xiangdong, vice president of BOE Technology Group, said that BOE has the world's most advanced and largest OLED production line in the High-tech West Zone, and is also developing cutting-edge technologies with the University of Electronic Science and Technology of China through the Innovation Institute.
In addition, Qin Xiangdong also said that nearly 1.8 billion smartphones will be produced in 2020, of which 400 million will use OLED flexible screens, with a penetration rate of nearly 22%. By 2025, the global demand for smartphones will be 1.946 billion, of which 570 million will use OLED displays, with a penetration rate of over 30%, and the penetration rate is increasing year by year. At present, BOE has realized flexible technologies such as 360° folding screen, "panoramic display" based on under-screen fingerprint recognition and under-screen camera, and flexible sliding screen, bringing more extended value to users.
With the implementation of BOE's sixth-generation flexible screen production line project, Chengdu's electronic information industry has become the first industry in Chengdu to exceed one trillion yuan. In particular, Chengdu's new display industry, after years of development and precipitation, has obvious characteristics of independent innovation, continuous breakthroughs in key core technologies, and continuous improvement in product competitiveness and influence, showing a good trend of chain development and cluster development, especially in display panel manufacturing, which has begun to take advantage.
At present, Chengdu has successively built BOE's first mass-produced 6th-generation flexible AMOLED production line in China and the second in the world, Idemitsu Kosan's third in the world and the first in China's OLED light-emitting material manufacturing base, and Luwei Optoelectronics' first G11-generation mask product production line in China. It is in the global leading position in the AMOLED flexible display, screenless display and other sub-sectors, and is also the main R&D and production base for flexible displays in China.
At the same time, driven by leading enterprises, Chengdu has also gathered more than 50 upstream and downstream enterprises in the material, equipment, parts and even terminal manufacturing industries, forming a relatively complete new display industry chain. The person in charge of the relevant departments in Chengdu said that they will continue to expand the scale of the flexible display industry, enhance the research and development and innovation capabilities in the field of flexible display, build a world-class brand of flexible electronics, and help Chengdu become a highland of the flexible electronics industry.
