Apple today announced the end of a program that offered free logic board repairs to customers with potentially defective iPhone 8 models, MacRumors reports.
In some cases, a faulty logic board can cause your iPhone 8 to reboot and become unresponsive.
The logic board is also called the screen driver board, central control board, or TCON board. Its function is to convert the LVDS image data input signal sent by the digital board into an LVDS signal that can drive the LCD screen, and then directly send it to the LVDS receiving chip of the LCD screen. The LCD screen cannot directly recognize the output signal of the motherboard. The signal of the motherboard must be processed by the logic board before being transmitted to the LCD screen.
According to previous reports, Apple's free repair program was officially launched in August 2018 and targets a very small proportion of iPhone 8 devices that may have logic board defects.
According to Apple, at the time, the affected models were sold in China, Hong Kong, Macau, India, Japan, New Zealand and the United States between September 2017 and March 2018, and the iPhone 8 Plus was not included in the program.
