This year, the iPhone 13 Pro series finally supports 120Hz high refresh rate, and also achieves ultra-fine refresh rate adjustment through LTPO. It can dynamically adjust the refresh rate according to the display screen in real time, and the minimum will be maintained at 10Hz, taking into account both high refresh rate and power saving.
But precisely because of this high refresh adjustment that has been praised by everyone, the 120Hz high refresh screen, which should have been a very good experience, has brought a very bad experience.
Well-known blogger @数码闲聊站 said: "The high refresh scheduling of iPhone 13 Pro is different from that of conventional Android models. It will adapt to different refresh rates according to the fingertip sliding speed. Some conventional apps are difficult to run at 120fps, and even the built-in settings cannot reach 90, and there is a significant gap in switching. Of course, the battery life is really amazing."
Judging from the screenshots of system data posted by the blogger, it is even difficult for the iPhone 13 Pro to reach a refresh rate of 100Hz. There is even only 77Hz in the system settings page, which is basically the same as the iPhone 13 without high refresh rate. It should be that the speed of finger sliding is difficult to trigger a higher refresh rate.
At present, Apple has not made any statement on this scheduling mechanism and may not change it. After all, this will greatly affect battery life.
It should be noted that Apple has responded to the previous serious loophole in the refresh rate limit and denied restricting third-party apps from using a 120Hz refresh rate, claiming that it was just a matter of developer adaptation. It has now released relevant documents to inform developers how to adapt to 120Hz.
Taking Swift as an example, simply add the relevant code to Info.plist. Apple also confirmed that there is a BUG in iOS 15 that limits the core animation effects, which will be fixed as soon as possible.
