The Semiconductor Industry Association (SIA) of the United States announced on September 6 that the global semiconductor industry sales in July 2021 were US$45.4 billion, an increase of 29.0% from the total of US$35.2 billion in July 2020 and an increase of 2.1% (US$44.5 billion) from the total in June 2021. Among them, the semiconductor sales in mainland China in July were US$15.85 billion, an increase of about 29% year-on-year.
Monthly sales are compiled by the World Semiconductor Trade Statistics (WSTS) organization and represent a three-month moving average.
“Global semiconductor sales remained strong in July, with strong demand in all major regional markets and semiconductor product categories,” said John Neuffer, SIA president and CEO. “Chip production and shipments have reached record highs in recent months.”
From a regional perspective, sales in Europe (38.0%), Asia Pacific/All Others (30.9%), China (28.9%), Americas (26.8%) and Japan (20.9%) increased year-on-year to varying degrees. Americas (4.2%), Japan (3.2%), Asia Pacific/All Others (2.0%) and China (1.2%) all increased month-on-month to varying degrees, but Europe (-0.8%) declined slightly.
