However, Acer Chairman and CEO Chen Junsheng holds a different view.
Digitimes reported that Chen Junsheng said that the demand for Chromebooks remains strong. However, Chromebook shipments will continue to be affected by the shortage of components, which remains serious and is unlikely to improve before the end of 2021.
Acer expects the U.S. rescue package to generate strong demand for Chromebooks, and the company is eyeing upcoming education procurement projects in Singapore, Indonesia and Japan.
Quanta Vice President Weng Zongbin also said that Chromebook shipments declined in the second half of the year, mainly due to shrinking demand in Europe and North America, but demand in emerging markets remained strong.
