Vivo's first self-developed chip revealed: internal code name "Yueying"

According to Jiemian News, the supply chain revealed that vivo's first self-developed chip will be launched soon, with the internal code name "Yueying", but the further functional details of the chip are still unclear, or it may be a chip specifically designed to enhance imaging capabilities.

On September 23, 2019, vivo executive vice president Hu Bashan said in an interview with the media that vivo is indeed recruiting hardware R&D engineers to build a team of 300-500 people, but it does not intend to develop its own chips immediately. Instead, it will strengthen cooperation with chip manufacturers on front-end demand. At the same time, he added that vivo will go from shallow to deep in chip definition, and in the future we will see chip products with vivo branding.

In May 2020, two chip trademarks applied by vivo were exposed online: "vivo SOC" and "vivo chip". The application dates of these two trademarks were September 2019. The product categories covered include central processing units, modems, computer chips, printed circuits, computer storage devices and other processor-related products.
