Taiwan PCB manufacturer PCB Technology's Malaysia factory suspends operations after nine employees tested positive for COVID-19

As the outbreak of the new coronavirus variant continues, the Malaysian government has repeatedly implemented movement control measures to curb the further spread of the epidemic and required companies to cooperate in adjusting factory manpower attendance limits. Taiwan's PCB manufacturer Precision Technology's Malaysia factory was shut down for firefighting and epidemic prevention because 9 employees in the same department were diagnosed with the disease. It is the first Taiwanese PCB factory to be shut down since the epidemic.

The head of ELNA PCB pointed out that ELNA PCB holds 91.67% of the shares of its Malaysian subsidiary ELNA PCB (M) SDN. BHD. After the community infection spread to 9 employees in the same department who were diagnosed with the virus, they have been isolated for treatment and the entire factory has been shut down for firefighting and epidemic prevention. At the same time, due to this suspension and epidemic prevention measure, the earliest application for resumption of work can be submitted is July 8.

Through overseas acquisitions, ELNA Printed Circuits holds a 70% stake in Japanese PCB manufacturer ELNA Printed Circuits Co., Ltd. Since ELNA Printed Circuits also has a factory in Penang, Malaysia, after completing the acquisition in 2018, ELNA Printed Circuits has invested over 100 million yuan in capital expenditures on the Malaysian production line to improve the process.

The head of ELNA Printed Circuits pointed out that the monthly production capacity of ELNA Printed Circuits' Malaysian plant is about 200,000 feet of PCBs, mainly producing automotive boards, which account for less than 5% of the group's revenue.
