The Apple Watch Series 7 will reportedly feature a smaller "S7" chip, which could provide more room for a larger battery or other components.
According to a DigiTimes report obtained by MacRumors, the next-generation Apple Watch models will use double-sided System-in-Package (SIP) packaging from Taiwanese supplier ASE Technology.
ASE confirmed on its website that its bifacial technology allows for module miniaturization, paving the way for smaller "S7" chips.
Apple Watch Series 7 is expected to be released in September, in line with past generations of devices. Bloomberg's Mark Gurman and Debby Wu previously reported that Apple has tested thinner display bezels and a new lamination technology that brings the display closer to the glass. According to Jon Prosser, the next-generation Apple Watch may also feature a new square design and a new green version.
There are rumors that future Apple Watches will also be equipped with advanced health features such as body temperature sensing and blood sugar monitoring, but these features are considered unlikely to be launched on this year's Series 7 model.
