The report "Tablet Application Processor Market Share Tracking in Q4 2019: Apple Leads with 47% Revenue Share" released by Strategy Analytics' Mobile Component Technology research service pointed out that in 2019, the global tablet application processor (AP) market revenue increased by 2% year-on-year to US$1.9 billion.
The report shows that the top five companies in terms of revenue share in the global tablet application processor (AP) market in 2019 are: Apple, Qualcomm, Intel, MediaTek and Samsung LSI. Apple maintains the lead with a revenue share of 44%, followed by Qualcomm and Intel with 16% each.
“Despite strong average selling prices (ASPs), the declining tablet shipment trend remains a challenge for tablet AP suppliers,” said Sravan Kundojjala, associate director at Strategy Analytics. “Strategy Analytics estimates that x86-based tablet APs accounted for 11% of total tablet AP shipments in 2019. Intel accounts for the majority of Windows tablet AP shipments. However, Qualcomm is attempting to expand into the Windows ecosystem with its cellular 8cx, 8c, and 7c Snapdragon Compute Platforms.”
Stuart Robinson, Executive Director of the Strategy Analytics Handset Component Technologies service, added: “Both HiSilicon and Samsung LSI saw year-on-year tablet AP shipments increase in 2019. Both companies continue to leverage their internal customer relationships and cellular integration capabilities to gain share in the tablet AP market.”
