MDM Pro main features are:
Supports debugging up to 8 FPGAs simultaneously
Each FPGA can track up to 16K probe signals and supports 8 groups
Sampling frequency up to 125MHz
Dynamic probe, supports reading the value of any internal DFF/BRAM
Support trigger state machine language to facilitate complex logic triggering and debugging
External storage up to 64GB of waveform data
Massive data capture and storage to provide longer-term value
MDM Pro released by SMIC supports users to debug 8 FPGAs simultaneously through a single debugging window. The sampling frequency is up to 125MHz, and it is transmitted through the Mini-SAS high-speed transceiver, with up to 64GB of waveform data stored externally. Not only can waveforms be captured and stored continuously, but it also consumes almost no internal storage resources of the user's FPGA. Dynamic probes support reading the value of any internal DFF/BRAM. Each FPGA can track up to 16K probe signals, a total of 8 groups, each with 2K probe signals, without recompiling. After subsequent software upgrades, it is expected to reach 64K probe signals, that is, each group is upgraded to 8K signals, a total of 8 groups.
The MDM Pro hardware module achieves high-speed transmission with the host PC through the Gigabit Ethernet data channel. This allows developers to conduct in-depth analysis of waveforms, identify deeper problems, and find the underlying causes of symptoms. Compared with current similar products, MDM Pro provides higher performance and value.
This time, a built-in version is also launched, which can be pre-installed in its Prodigy Quad 10M and Quad S7-19P logic systems, supports parallel debugging of 4 FPGAs, and can store 32GB of waveforms. It is easy to achieve an all-in-one solution and save hardware costs for users.
Rich detection functions to meet demanding digital debugging needs
MDM Pro supports two working modes: compile mode and IP mode. When running compile mode, the deep debugging software is embedded in the Player Pro software. MDM Pro works with Player Pro to complete the insertion of design probes and the setting of trigger conditions, and finally completes board-level debugging through external MDM Pro hardware modules. In IP mode, users can directly instantiate the debug IP in the DUT without running the Player Pro compile process.
The Pro version provides a wealth of measurement functions, as well as a variety of detection, application support and analysis tools to meet users' demanding digital debugging needs. For example, RTL-level probe signal insertion, integrated board-level debugging settings, the ability to track a large number of probe signals without repeated compilation, easy to set trigger events and combination events, etc. Even novice engineers can master it within a short learning curve.
"The essence of prototype verification is to quickly and effectively correct errors in the design so that the product can be brought to market faster." said Mr. Chen Yingren, Vice President of Guowei Sierxin. "FPGA manufacturers' own debugging tools are often inadequate for prototype verification. These tools can usually only debug one FPGA at a time, and the trace depth is also limited. At the same time, they also consume precious FPGA memory and logic resources. Debugging one FPGA at a time is more likely to bring errors into the debugging of another FPGA in the next stage, causing a chain reaction. We are very happy to release MDM Pro, so that customers can calmly cope with the increasingly demanding digital debugging needs."
