At the opening ceremony, Ju Long, SEMI global vice president and president of China, delivered a keynote speech.
Observing the current semiconductor market, Ju Long said that looking back at 2020, the epidemic caused a global economic recession, but the final data showed that the development of the semiconductor industry in 2020 was better than expected. The digital application of industries such as home office, games, and education has driven the semiconductor industry to achieve a positive growth of 7-8% throughout the year. Sales of electronic devices, integrated circuits, capital expenditures, and semiconductor equipment are all higher than previously predicted, and have increased to varying degrees.
He mentioned that the global semiconductor equipment market grew significantly by 18.9% in 2020. And mainland China became the world's largest equipment market for the first time, with a growth rate of 39%.
He also expects the global semiconductor market to reach $500 billion around 2022-2023.
"SEMI has always emphasized that the semiconductor industry should adhere to global cooperation." Ju Long said, "For China, the key point of our foreign policy is also to deepen global cooperation in the integrated circuit industry and software industry, and promote the integrated circuit industry and software industry to 'go out and bring in'."
