The total investment in integrated circuit projects exceeded 200 billion yuan

On February 3, the Beijing Economic and Technological Development Zone (referred to as "Beijing Yizhuang") held a project signing event. A total of 129 key projects signed "entry agreements" through on-site signing and 5G cloud signing. The total investment amounted to nearly 400 billion yuan. The signed projects involved nine fields including automobiles and intelligent equipment, integrated circuits, and information technology parks.

According to Beijing Daily, the total investment in integrated circuit-related projects exceeded 200 billion yuan, of which the SMIC Beijing project with a single investment of 7.6 billion US dollars was put into construction and Schneider Electric established a research and development center.

According to a previous report by Jiwei.com, Qichacha showed that on December 7, 2020, SMIC Beijing Integrated Circuit Manufacturing (Beijing) Co., Ltd. (referred to as "SMIC Beijing") was established. Its shareholders include: Semiconductor Manufacturing International Corporation, Beijing Yizhuang International Investment Development Co., Ltd., and National Integrated Circuit Industry Investment Fund II Co., Ltd.

On December 4, 2020, SMIC announced that SMIC Holdings, National Integrated Circuit Fund II and Yizhuang State Investment signed a joint venture contract to jointly establish a joint venture. According to the announcement at the time, SMIC was responsible for the development and operation of the joint venture, with a total investment of US$7.6 billion and a registered capital of US$5 billion.

In the field of automobiles and intelligent equipment, new energy intelligent automobile projects such as Guoqi Zhilian and Tongmin Technology were signed, and a number of high-end equipment, aerospace, and new materials projects such as Hongji Technology and China Aerospace were launched. In addition, Pony.ai decided to further upgrade its development scale in the Economic and Technological Development Zone. 

It is reported that in addition to building a whole-vehicle autonomous driving R&D center and an autonomous driving experience center, Pony.ai will also establish its first complete autonomous driving operation fleet. In 2021, it will deploy a new autonomous driving fleet on the public roads in the Economic and Technological Development Zone to provide citizens with safe, convenient and economical shuttle and travel trial operation services.
