Although the mobile phone market has been developing towards large screens for many years, many people still miss the physical buttons and even the dial-pad input experience. Some people may still remember the Sky's Edge project initiated by engineer Justine Haupt in 2020. However, now, the "feature machine DIY kit" created by Rotary has begun to sell to the public. Interested friends only need simple tools such as screwdrivers and tweezers to complete the assembly operation.
Although it only supports basic 4G/3G/2G mobile network use cases, this "feature phone" priced at US$390 (about RMB 2,530) is not completely useless.
For example, it supports making and receiving calls and message display (there is a small e-ink display on the back).
The product page notes that the dial pad can also be used to access stored contacts, and there are even two dedicated buttons for setting up one-touch dialing.
Interestingly, Rotary has managed to get around the FCC's restrictions. Even without the other "more advanced" features, the signal from the external antenna is pretty good.
