On the morning of December 12, Qualcomm President Cristiano Amon praised Apple's M1 chip in an interview with the media. Amon said that the success of the M1 chip "confirmed" Qualcomm's ideas about the future of computing.
When asked what lessons companies like Qualcomm and Microsoft can learn from the M1 chip, Amon said, "We are very excited about the launch of the M1 chip, it's a big deal. Kudos to Apple because it proves our belief that mobile users are defining what they expect from a PC experience."
Amon also emphasized that Apple’s transition to ARM chips will help drive the development of the entire industry. It is worth noting that Qualcomm has just released its latest flagship processor Snapdragon 888.
“When Apple joins the scene, you’ll see that the ecosystem is changing. For example, I believe this week, the week before Adobe released new apps, these apps are ARM native. Once these apps become ARM native apps, their performance will be higher and their compatibility will be better.
Overall, this is a very good sign. The ecosystem will change, and this proves that Microsoft and Qualcomm are on the right track. It's about battery life, network connectivity, and a differentiated multimedia experience," said Amon.
In the interview, Amon talked about the future of 5G, and his views are still very optimistic. Earlier, it was reported that Apple has begun developing modems for cellular networks to replace Qualcomm.
