According to the Hubei Gedian Economic and Technological Development Zone, Sanan Optoelectronics' Mini/Micro LED chip industrialization project is expected to be put into production in March next year. This is my country's first large-scale micro-LED chip project, and its products are mainly supplied to Samsung, Huawei, Apple and other companies.
In July 2019, Sanan Optoelectronics' Mini/Micro LED chip industrialization project was officially started in the Gedian Development Zone. According to the news from the Ezhou Development and Reform Commission at that time, Sanan Optoelectronics' Mini/MicroLED chip project covers an area of about 756 acres, with a total investment of 12 billion yuan and a total construction area of 477,700 square meters. It will build a research and development and production base for three major product series: Mini/MicroLED gallium nitride chips, Mini/MicroLED gallium arsenide chips, and 4K display packaging. It is expected to form an annual research and development and manufacturing capacity of 2.1 million MiniLED chips, 260,000 Micro LED chips, and 84,000 packaging products for 4K displays.
The project will be built in two phases. After completion and production, it will form a Mini/MicroLED chip industry production base with independent intellectual property rights, core technologies, industry discourse power, and important international influence. It will also bring about the agglomeration effect of optoelectronic chips, new generation power devices, RF chips and filters, Micro display screens and their upstream and downstream industrial chains.
The data from the Gedian Economic and Technological Development Zone pointed out that after the project is completed and reaches full production, it is expected to produce 1.61 million gallium nitride chips, 750,000 gallium arsenide chips, and 84,000 packaging products for 4K display screens annually. As the project progresses, large-scale equipment will also be brought into the factory for debugging in succession, in preparation for smooth production in March next year.
