According to an internal training document for Apple employees shared earlier on Reddit, when the iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro are released, the dual SIM mode on the device will not be able to use 5G networks when activated. But at the same time, according to an internal Verizon slide obtained by MacRumors, Apple plans to enable dual-SIM 5G support mode through a software update later this year. 5G will be automatically enabled on iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro models as long as the user selects a wireless carrier that offers 5G networks. Apple's document states that to access 5G when roaming in other countries, customers can purchase a local SIM card or an eSIM plan.
Pre-orders for the iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro began last Friday, and shipments will begin to arrive to customers on Friday.
