Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov noted that Russia is ready to cooperate with China and Huawei on the 5G technology that it is currently trying to develop, Interfax reported.
Huawei currently has several R&D centers in Russia. Last year, Huawei opened three new R&D centers, expecting to recruit 500 employees and more than 1,000 new experts within five years. Russia is expected to become Huawei's third overseas R&D center. Huawei hopes to work closely with the Russian scientific community, universities and other research centers.
Zeng Arujun Avetsyan, director of the Institute of System Programming of the Russian Academy of Sciences, pointed out that the lack of talent is the main problem facing the global IT industry. Huawei regards Russia as a talent pool, which has attracted many R&D personnel. Russia has system programming talents that meet Huawei's current needs, such as operating system R&D. He believes that 1,500 R&D personnel is also a huge number for the Russian market, so he hopes that Huawei will cultivate talents instead of just poaching employees from Russian companies with high salaries.
