Lumia 950 has been updated with Windows 10 May update: calls and text messages can be used

       In 2018, developers successfully ran a full Windows 10 system on the Lumia 950 and 950 XL. Last year, developers also began porting Windows 10 to ARM for flagship Android phones such as the OnePlus 6, Galaxy S8, and Xiaomi MI Mix.

　　Initially, Windows 10 on ARM was unstable on phones, with poor performance and limited functionality, but the project has now made some progress.

　　The developer behind the project said that the team has successfully made Windows 10 Build 19041 (20H1) run on Lumia phones. Currently, the latest Windows 10 Build 19041 (May Update) can be run on Lumia 950 and 950 XL. Most of the phone's sensors, including light sensors, accelerometers, gyroscopes, etc., can work properly.

　　The developers have also created an adaptive shell to mimic the look and feel of Windows 10 Mobile with desktop functionality. "MobileShell" is now available in the Microsoft Store for Lumia users, and when tablet mode is turned on, Shell brings back the integration of navigation, status bar, and notifications.

       Enthusiasts have also developed a "WOA Dialer" that can be used to make and manage calls on the device. However, cellular network support is still under development and may not be available in all regions or network configurations. In addition, there is an application called "Chat" that can be used to send and receive text messages, but MMS is not yet supported.

　　The developer has also tested Windows 10 Preview Build 19628.1 and it seems to be working fine.

　　IT Home learned that the availability of the above-mentioned Windows 10 on ARM is still limited to two Lumia phones and can be installed by downloading third-party tools. Windows 10 ARM ports for specific Android phones are also being explored and may be supported in the future.
