According to Taiwan's Central News Agency, industry insiders predict that semiconductor packaging and testing manufacturer ASE Technology Holding will mass-produce antenna packaging (AiP) products in August, which will allow it to enter the supply chain of the 5G version of the iPhone that supports millimeter waves.
Industry insiders pointed out that due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, the release of the iPhone supporting 5G millimeter wave will be delayed until December this year. At the same time, ASE Technology Holding Co., Ltd. continues to deploy antenna module packaging required for sub-6GHz and millimeter wave bands, and is expected to enter the 5G iPhone supply chain, and estimates that each new phone will be equipped with 3 AiP designs.
In addition, industry insiders estimate that ASE Technology Holding's AiP shipments this year could reach 45 million to 50 million units, which will contribute to revenue momentum in the second half of the year.
It is reported that ASE's net profit after tax in the first quarter of this year reached NT$3.899 billion (the same below), a 91% increase from the same period last year, with net profit per share after tax of NT$0.92. Industry insiders pointed out that ASE's first quarter profit was the highest in a single quarter since its establishment.
As for Q2's performance, industry insiders said that it is expected to increase by 6%-9% quarter-on-quarter, with gross profit margin reaching 17.5% to 17.7%, and profit for a single quarter approaching NT$5 billion.
