Foreign media Sammobile reported that Samsung recently began to roll out a new Galaxy M31 mobile phone firmware update in India. The firmware brings the April 2020 security patch, but shortly after the update was released, many Galaxy M31 users complained on social media and Samsung Members App that the firmware bricked the phone.
Since there are still few reports of devices getting stuck, the issue doesn’t seem to be too widespread. Some users were able to update their Galaxy M31s normally without facing any issues. However, Samsung seems to have taken notice of the issue and decided not to push this firmware update over the air.
According to IT Home, Samsung pushed the firmware version M315FXXU1ATD1 OTA update for the Galaxy M31 phone in India yesterday. It is not clear what caused this problem on the Galaxy M31, but it seems to be very similar to the problem encountered by some Galaxy A70 users after installing the Android 10 update. The previous system firmware update did not match the hardware of the Galaxy A70, causing the device to become bricked, but it is not sure whether this is also a problem with the Galaxy M31.
