HTC, the former Android phone giant, is finally going to launch a 5G phone after a period of silence.
On February 20, HTC's new CEO Yves Maitre said in an interview that HTC will launch its first 5G mobile phone in 2020.
Yves Maitre said that 2020 will be a year with many development opportunities for HTC, especially in 5G applications and virtual reality content.
HTC will actively deploy 5G this year. It will not only launch its first 5G mobile phone, but will also continue to invest in virtual display applications.
Unfortunately, HTC did not disclose the details of the 5G phone and its release date. As expected, it will use Qualcomm chips and will be positioned in the mid-to-high-end market.
According to the information, HTC did not update its flagship in 2019 and launched several mid- and low-end models in Taiwan, China.
It is the "number one player" in the Android camp. HTC launched the world's first Android phone G1 in September 2008. Its models span the two major camps of Windows Phone and Android.
HTC was once the world's largest Windows Mobile smartphone manufacturer, and was also the world's largest smartphone OEM and manufacturer.
However, with the strong rise of mobile phone brands such as Huawei, OPPO, vivo, and Xiaomi, HTC's global market share has gradually been lost.
In addition, HTC’s official flagship stores on JD.com and Tmall have been closed, and the era of HTC’s mobile phones is over.
