On September 16, the new vivo NEX series NEX 3 5G smart flagship was officially released at NEX SPACE in Shanghai. The phone has many breakthrough technologies, not only equipped with 5G communication technology, but also equipped with a 6.89-inch flexible screen that bends and extends to a nearly vertical borderless waterfall screen.
In terms of hardware, the NEX 3 is equipped with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 Plus processor, a 4500mAh large battery and 44W ultra-fast flash charging, a 64-megapixel ultra-high-pixel main camera + 13-megapixel wide-angle/macro + 13-megapixel telephoto triple camera solution, and an upgraded Jovi artificial intelligence solution.
In terms of price, NEX 3 has a variety of versions to choose from: NEX 3 5G version provides 8G+256G and 12G+256G versions, priced at 5698 yuan and 6198 yuan respectively; NEX 3 4G version provides 8G+128G version, priced at 4998 yuan. It will go on sale on September 21.

Ding Guanli, product manager of vivo NEX, said in an interview: "This phone is designed for 5G in all aspects that users need, such as large battery, heat dissipation, side distributed and 6-antenna design. All problems that users may encounter during use are taken into consideration, such as the 4500mAh large battery and heat dissipation of the heat spreader. It is a 5G product built from scratch."
On the day of the press conference, vivo's first TWS Earphone true wireless Bluetooth headset was officially unveiled. The headset is equipped with the world's first Qualcomm flagship Bluetooth chip and new two-way transmission technology, with a customized ultra-large sound unit in the inner cavity, and realizes intelligent interconnection and deep adaptation.
5G technology is developing rapidly
NEX 3 has powerful 5G communication capabilities and can smoothly support the high-speed 5G networks of the three major operators, providing users with a guaranteed 5G network experience.
NEX 3 has been fully upgraded in antenna design, equipped with a number of newly developed antenna technologies by vivo, including 5G 6-antenna design, antenna decoupling technology, dual-side distributed antenna technology and antenna long-term stability optimization, to achieve 5G signal enhancement in all scenarios. With the high-energy support of Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 Plus flagship processor and UFS3.0 high-speed flash memory, it can bring users top-level operating experience and reading speed.
Moreover, considering the high energy consumption load brought by the rapid operation of 5G, the R&D team further optimized the battery life and heat dissipation performance of NEX 3. The 4500mAh large-capacity battery and vivo Super FlashCharge 44W ultra-fast flash charging technology will easily meet the needs of NEX 3 users. In terms of heat dissipation, NEX 3 adopts a new zero-sense heat sink cooling technology, which uses an ultra-thin liquid cooling heat sink to greatly improve the heat dissipation performance.
vivo has made large-scale, multi-dimensional layout in communication technology research and development and established a huge technical R&D team. Since 2016, it has actively participated in the 3GPP 5G standard-setting work, applied for more than 2,000 5G invention patents, and submitted more than 2,700 5G proposals to 3GPP, ranking top ten in 3GPP influence.
vivo also focused early on a more challenging unknown field - 6G. Although we are currently at the beginning of the 5G commercial era, vivo believes that the explosive growth of data volume and the widespread application of more artificial intelligence technologies will bring the next wave of communication challenges. Therefore, vivo took the lead in officially launching the 6G research and development layout, participated in the B5G/6G special discussion initiated by the industry, and launched a number of 6G cutting-edge key technology research collaborations with domestic and foreign universities.
Ultimate borderless waterfall screen
With the support of R&D technology, NEX 3 breaks the limitations of the screen border and innovatively bends the left and right display areas of a 6.89-inch (5.5-inch feel when held) FHD+ flexible screen directly downward to a nearly vertical state.
While pursuing the maximization of the screen curvature, NEX 3 reduces the ineffective area including the border, making NEX 3 almost 0mm border from the main viewing angle, achieving the highest screen-to-body ratio in the industry - 99.6%. In addition, NEX 3 removes the physical buttons on both sides of the fuselage, and Chipsea Technology develops pressure-sensitive key technology together with the rest, equipped with hidden pressure-sensitive keys and X-axis linear motors.
The NEX 3 borderless waterfall screen is also equipped with a number of innovative screen display technologies, including the use of E3 luminous materials, a minimum brightness of 1.9nit, a maximum local excitation brightness of 800nit, reducing harmful blue light and lowering power consumption. It also supports HDR10, 100% coverage of the P3 wide color gamut, and low-brightness anti-screen flicker.
AI and photography fully upgraded
Jovi artificial intelligence has been upgraded again on NEX 3, empowering the intelligent performance of the 5G flagship. Vivo's self-developed lightweight, high-performance mobile AI acceleration platform - VCAP computing acceleration platform enables NEX 3 to not only be equipped with a new Jovi voice wake-up solution, but also achieve unlock-free wake-up while improving response speed and accuracy.
In addition, NEX 3 has also been upgraded in multiple smart scenes, equipped with telephone secretary, translator, children's mode, Scan 2.0, sleep service, my skin and other functions, instantly transforming into a "personal butler", providing users with intimate and intelligent services and solutions, unlocking an advanced lifestyle.
NEX 3 is equipped with a combination of 64MP ultra-high-pixel main camera + 13MP wide-angle/macro + 13MP telephoto triple-camera, including wide-angle lens, telephoto lens and super macro. It also introduces "blockbuster"-level picture effects such as "streaming shutter" and "gaze capture" in professional photo modes, and supports RAW format output of picture details.
In terms of portrait photography, NEX 3 is not only equipped with Hyper-HDR technology, but also can optimize the skin color of portraits based on the research of color science. In addition, NEX 3 will also provide users with AI album function, which can not only intelligently identify videos and automatically edit them to generate exclusive short stories, but also realize AI cutout and accurately separate the background of people.
In terms of hardware configuration, NEX 3 is equipped with up to 12GB of memory and 256GB of storage, and is equipped with a new dual Wi-Fi acceleration technology. At the same time, NEX 3 will introduce an independent audio chip, support global frequency bands, and come standard with full-function NFC.
NEX 3 has already taken the lead in China's "hasty" 5G trend, and now it is vivo's 5G show time.
