According to Kyodo News, on September 3, Huawei proposed to the Japanese government that it would disclose the source code equivalent to the product program design drawings and be willing to accept Japan's own evaluation. This move is aimed at alleviating security concerns.
However, Huawei's move was rejected by Japan. It is understood that the Japanese government currently stated that "evaluating Huawei's source code is not within its jurisdiction", showing a gesture of not accepting the proposal.
John Suffolk, Huawei's senior vice president for cybersecurity, said in an interview with Kyodo News in Dongguan, Guangdong Province on the 3rd: "We should be prepared to respond at any time in accordance with the situation of each country. Each country should conduct its own assessment."
As the Trump administration in the United States escalates its ban on Huawei, Huawei is believed to be trying to break the current situation where it has been effectively excluded from the construction of high-speed, large-capacity fifth-generation (5G) mobile communication systems by agreeing to undergo an evaluation.
In addition to Japan, the United States and Poland recently signed the so-called "5G Security Statement", emphasizing that they will strictly control 5G network equipment suppliers. The so-called security statements of the United States and Poland also implicitly refer to Huawei.
Regarding Huawei's security issues, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Geng Shuang said at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs' regular press conference on the 3rd that the US has been meddling in other countries' 5G network construction, forcing or even threatening other countries to take the same position as the US, which has exposed its unilateralism and hegemonism. We advise the US not to overestimate its ability to spread rumors, nor underestimate others' judgment.
Geng Shuang also pointed out that for some time, the United States has generalized the concept of "national security", abused state power, and unreasonably suppressed Chinese companies without providing any evidence. This behavior is neither honorable nor ethical.
