Recently, the official verdict was announced in the case of MediaTek female engineer Cui Yajie being murdered and burned by her Singaporean boyfriend (married) Qiu Guifu, who was sentenced to life imprisonment.
According to local media reports, the judge found the defendant Qiu Guifu guilty of murder and sentenced him to life imprisonment. In addition, because the defendant was over 50 years old, he would not be caned.
On July 20, 2016, Qiu Guifu, a 48-year-old man, was arrested by the Singapore police on suspicion of murdering 31-year-old Chinese female engineer Cui Yajie from MediaTek.
According to previous interrogation, the defendant Qiu Guifu went bankrupt and lied that he was the owner of a laundry shop. He concealed his marriage from Cui Yajie and started a relationship with Cui Yajie in 2015. He defrauded Cui Yajie of 20,000 yuan to invest in gold. Cui Yajie gradually exposed the defendant Qiu Guifu's lies. On the morning of the incident, she was going to the laundry shop to confront the defendant Qiu Guifu, but ended up killing herself.
Qiu Guifu admitted in court that he had at least four extramarital affairs at the time of the incident. On July 12, 2016, Cui Yajie said she wanted to go to his company to expose his lies, but was then taken into Qiu Guifu's car. The two had an argument in the car, and Qiu Guifu strangled Cui Yajie with his hands, then burned her body for three days and three nights, and finally scattered her ashes into the sea.
