According to Patently Apple, at the end of May, Apple released a report titled "Google suspends Android services, Huawei rushes to apply for two trademarks in Europe for the new 'Ark OS'". Today, a new report from Apple said that Huawei has applied for the "Hongmeng" trademark in Europe. The report said this is the name of Huawei's operating system.
According to Reuters today, Huawei has applied for the "Hongmeng" trademark in countries including Cambodia, Canada, South Korea and New Zealand.
Apple investigated the matter and found that Huawei actually applied for two trademarks. The first one was "Huawei HongMeng" filed on May 14, and the second one was "HongMeng" filed on May 22, as shown in the figure below.
It is not clear whether Huawei's two latest applications are limited to the Chinese market, while the Ark OS system will be used in Europe and other English-speaking countries.
