Recently, foreign media reported that Farshid Fallah, director of Samsung's XR and game developer relations, said at the World Augmented Reality Expo held in Santa Clara, California this week that Samsung plans to release "multiple AR and VR products" in the coming months.

Fallah began by looking back at Samsung's early VR work, which began with the company's first Gear VR in 2015. "Gear VR was a great entry point," he said.

Samsung has since released two high-end VR headsets based on Microsoft's Windows Mixed Reality platform. The company is also exploring head-mounted augmented reality technology and even unveiled an experimental augmented reality headset at last year's developer conference.

The headset, which is not sold as a product to consumers, is based on the same software development kit the company originally built for the Gear VR.On Thursday, Fallah suggested that the Gear brand could continue in some way with AR and VR. "We have other plans for Gear," he said, without elaborating further.
