The China Academy of Information and Communications Technology reported that the number of new mobile phones sold in China fell by 23.6% in April

In terms of the overall situation, data showed that in April 2019, the total shipments of the domestic mobile phone market were 36.53 million units, a year-on-year increase of 6.7%. Among them, 4G mobile phones were 34.848 million units, a year-on-year increase of 6.6%, accounting for 95.4% of the mobile phone shipments in the same period. In addition, the shipments of 2G and 3G mobile phones were 1.67 million units and 12,000 units respectively.

In terms of new phones, in April 2019, 42 new models were launched, a year-on-year decrease of 23.6%. Among the new models launched, there were 7 2G phones and 35 4G phones.

In terms of domestic and foreign mobile phone brands, domestic brand mobile phone shipments reached 33.929 million units, a year-on-year increase of 7.2%, accounting for 92.9% of mobile phone shipments in the same period, becoming the main force in shipments. The shipment proportion of foreign mobile phone brands was only 7.1%, and the shipment space was compressed by domestic mobile phone brands.

In terms of operating systems, among the 36.53 million smartphones in April, smartphones running the Android operating system accounted for as high as 92.7%. Compared with operating systems such as iOS, the Android operating system has an absolute advantage in the Chinese smartphone market.
