Recently, the US operator AT&T completed a pioneering feat, achieving a speed of 2Gbps on the 5G network, which means that it only takes 10 seconds to download a 2-hour HD movie using the 5G network.
It is reported that AT&T chose to test 5G speeds on its public network in the Atlanta area, which was achieved through a Netgear mobile router. However, it should be noted that the current 5G network cannot reach such speeds and can only use specific millimeter wave links, which in turn require specific equipment, such as router support. Therefore, AT&T only proved the possibility of 5G networks.
Despite this, the 2Gbps speed is still a pleasant surprise. When AT&T first announced its 5G mobile network, it claimed that the new network speed could reach 1Gbps, and the company would begin deploying a faster network later this year. However, according to actual tests, its signal and network speed were not satisfactory.
In December last year, the US operator AT&T launched its first 5G network package, and the price was not affordable. Although an AT&T spokesperson claimed at the time that its theoretical speed reached 1.2Gbps, the actual speed was not high, only 140Mbps.
