Multimedia phones and PDAs are typically feature-rich and require a variety of power levels, regulation and driver requirements. TI offers a variety of solutions for application/graphics processors, features and lighting voltage requirements commonly found in these phones.
From feature phones to 3G wireless handsets with rich multimedia capabilities, the scalable OMAP and PMAP-DM platforms offer the best combination of high performance and ultra-low power consumption. TI offers a variety of silicon and software products to support advanced operating systems and a wide range of open source TI wireless systems expertise covers multiple communication standards and wireless connectivity solutions, including WiLink mobile LAN solutions, NavLink GPS and BlueLink solutions. TI solutions enhance the user experience with innovative 3D graphics, high-quality video applications and advanced user interfaces

Power management :

Most of the power management requirements mentioned for smartphones also apply to multimedia phones, and special step-down DC/DC converters (such as the TPS624xx / TPS65xx series) have advanced dynamic voltage scaling capabilities to meet the requirements of the latest mobile processors. TI's TPS630xx series can provide best-in-class efficiency of 96% over a wide battery voltage range, and the input voltage can be reduced to 1.8 V to extend battery life and support new lithium-ion battery technologies. LDO TPS799xx / TPS717xx can be used for other power rails.
The TPS65K series of power management units (PMUs) provides the highest integration for handheld terminals. The latest PMU series includes stereo audio codecs and HS USB 2.0 on-the-go (OTG). These devices also integrate multiple high-efficiency DC/DC step-down converters and low-dropout regulators (LDOs) for the processor core, IO, memory and other voltages. Additional functions such as battery chargers, LED boost converters, ADCs and touch screen controllers are also integrated depending on the PMU series. TI's SmartReflex Technology and Dynamic Voltage Frequency Scaling (DVFS) can significantly extend battery life by adjusting the output voltage to the required performance, all of which are achieved through the I2C interface or logic high/low.
The bq240xx series meets the requirements of wall plug and USB port charging. The bq275xx using "Impedanc Track" provides an innovative next-generation fuel gauge solution that can automatically understand/detect battery characteristics and provide status data to the host through a simple interface without the need to understand cycles and lookup tables. TI has solutions for ID ROM and CRC authentication (bq20xx and bq261xx). Support for encryption depth of different lengths is provided.

Audio considerations :
Multimedia phones seek to enhance the user's audio experience through signal-to-noise ratios (SNR) of more than 100db and added features such as multi-band equalizers, 3D surround sound, and echo cancellation/noise cancellation. Low power consumption is always an important consideration in such designs.
TLV320AICxxxx / TLV320DACxxxx / PCMxxxx The full-featured audio codecs in the TPS6115x/6x family integrate mono and stereo AD/DA converters and headphone/speaker amplifiers. Class D amplifiers are becoming increasingly popular due to their efficiency and small package size. In some devices, the integrated DSP supports dynamic range compression, multi-band equalization, noise cancellation/echo cancellation and custom filtering. Newer generation TI audio codecs, such as the TLV320AIC3254, have better audio quality and longer battery life.

Display/lighting and touch screen notes :
The latest generation of drivers (such as the TPS6115x/6x) provide LED drive numbers (3 to 10) and implement pulse width modulation and digital dimming (multiple choice of 32 steps of brightness control) in a small 2x2mm package. TI offers OLED-specific drivers such as the TPS6108x/6114x, and for illuminated keyboards and stylish lighting, new LDO-based forward voltage LED drivers (TPS751xx) are available, such as 2 tubes and 4 LEDs for different color segments. EL driver for lamp tubes, flash memory function for cameras are realized with the help of TPS61050 series in CSP or QFN small size packages.
TI provides integrated touch screen controller solutions, such as TSC21xx / TSC23xx series with integrated EDS protection as added value. Touch screen operation can easily lead to discharge up to 12KV; separate TSCs provide the best isolation from the rest of the phone electronics. TSC200x series TSCs achieve low power consumption and eliminate vibration and display noise, while also providing small size packages. Display
I/O voltage is usually higher than 2.7V, which can cause incompatibility with other digital logic devices; 20-bit and 24-bit level converters (such as SN74AVC20Txxx) can be used to solve I/O compatibility issues.

Finally, the following two block diagrams are used to deepen the designer's understanding and impression.
