VIAVI will showcase solutions and partnerships at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona to help customers solve their most pressing business, cloud, security and sustainability problems
Shanghai, China, February 24, 2023 - VIAVI Solutions announced that it will demonstrate its slave experiments covering fiber optics, 5G and cloud at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona from February 27 to March 2, 2023. Testing and optimization solutions from room to field.
"Service providers are facing numerous technical and field deployment challenges as they upgrade their networks to new generations," said Oleg Khaykin, President and CEO of VIAVI . "They must manage new architectural complexities and security issues while Optimizing costs and bridging the skills gap in the workforce. At this year’s MWC Barcelona, we are showcasing solutions that will help customers address and manage these multi-faceted challenges."
VIAVI will showcase its industry-leading portfolio of testing and optimization solutions from the laboratory to the field at booth 5A18. Many of the solutions demonstrated are enabled by the Network Integrated Testing, Real-Time Analytics and Optimization (NITRO) platform and are currently available directly from VIAVI or through partners.
• Digital network transformation. VIAVI Cloud RANtoCore solution enables single-node or end-to-end consistency, performance and interoperability testing in the lab, via the cloud or as a service. NITRO Artificial Intelligence Network Operations, based on VIAVI's acquisition of CanGo Networks, enables communications service providers to leverage cloud platforms, open control interfaces and automation by providing cloud-native asset discovery, inventory and topology, assurance and analytics, and fault management.
• For the development of 5G and future network deployment. VIAVI OneAdvisor 800 Wireless is a compact instrument that helps field technicians and contractors install, activate and maintain all elements of the RAN, including RF and fiber. OneAdvisor 800 addresses today's deployment scenarios, from mmWave networks to uplink interference mitigation, to network timing and synchronization, and X-haul testing, automating the testing process to help bridge the workforce skills gap.
• Validation of 5G non-terrestrial networks (NTN) . With the introduction of satellite networks in 3GPP Release 17 and the rapid growth of the commercial satellite fleet, the VIAVI TM500 network tester can perform effective and scalable verification of NTN communications.
• Private network intelligence. NITRO private network intelligence can help enterprises quickly plan, deploy and manage 5G private networks and LTE networks, while creating an intelligent edge. A small, palm-sized XEdge device enables sensor-based, machine learning-driven situational awareness to drive digital transformation use cases.
• Energy-saving solutions . The NITRO Location Intelligence xApp and rApp provide commercial RAN Intelligent Controllers (RICs) with basic user-centric geolocation capabilities that can be used by other applications to enable autonomous decision-making, while the VIAVI TeraVM RIC tests applied artificial intelligence ( AI) and machine learning (ML) to train applications for more energy-efficient network operation.
• Flexible Positioning, Navigation and Timing (PNT) . Based on VIAVI's acquisition of Jackson Labs Technologies, the VIAVI PNT-6200 series can supplement or even replace GPS signals by connecting to the widest range of timing sources on the market, providing the highest resiliency for critical infrastructure that relies on positioning and timing.
Sameh Yamany, chief technology officer at VIAVI, said: "To build an open, cloud-native network, collaboration is critical, and vendors working alone in complex environments are unlikely to deliver the positive impact operators need. We have partnered with Leaders and innovators in the market collaborate so operators can benefit from the ecosystem that drives them forward."
During MWC Barcelona, VIAVI will also conduct joint demonstrations with the following partners:
• Amazon Cloud Technology (AWS). VIAVI TeraVM RIC testing provides realistic RAN simulation in an AWS-hosted energy efficiency and sustainability demonstration. Location: AWS Village, Hall 2.1.
• Supermicro, Capgemini and Intel. VIAVI TM500 network tester and TeraVM O-CU tester provide UE and O-RU simulation and support end-to-end performance verification of 5G RAN and core network on ultra-short-deep and Hyper-E systems based on Supermicro X13, Simulated traffic testing using Intel 4th Generation Xeon Scalable processors with vRAN Boost. Location: Supermicro Booth No. 5D66.
• Capgemini. NITRO Location Intelligence xApps and rApps provide basic user-centric geolocation capabilities for Capgemini’s near real-time and non-real-time RIC platforms. Location: Capgemini Booth No. 2B90.
• i14y Labs in Berlin as well as EANTC, Accelleran and Node-H. The VIAVI TM500 network tester and TeraVM core emulator support multi-vendor end-to-end functional performance testing of EANTC automation servers, Node-H O-RU and O-DU, and Accelleran O-CU. Location: EANTC Booth #7B81, Accelleran Booth #7G51 and VIAVI Booth #5A18.
• Meta’s TIP Community Lab, Aira Technologies, Vmware and Capgemini. The VIAVI TM500 network tester provides UE and channel simulation, demonstrating Aira’s AI-based high-fidelity MIMO channel estimation and prediction xApp. This xApp is a solution for the TIP RIA group defined X2 - Uplink Channel Estimation use case. The xApp runs on a VMware RIC and connects via E2 to Capgemini 5G Core powered Aira O-Du for signal. Location: TIP booth No. 5A40 and VMware booth No. 3M11.
• Rohde & Schwarz Corporation and Analog Devices. The VIAVI TM500 O-RU tester and the R&S SMW200A vector signal generator, the R&S FSVA3000 spectrum analyzer and the R&S VSE vector signal analysis software validate Analog Devices’ ADRV904x-RD-RUMB 8T8R O-RU reference design and development kit. -RAN WG4 prequel consistency. Location: Analog Devices Booth No. 2B18.
• ServiceNow. The VIAVI NITRO Discovery application will be demonstrated to help network operators develop and maintain accurate network inventory and topology. Location: ServiceNow Booth No. GG4
• VMware. NITRO location intelligence xApps and rApps will run on VMware RIC and will be on display at the RAN Innovation Showcase as part of the rAppathon demonstration suite. The second collaboration at the VMware booth will showcase the RIC test platform as a service, which will enable mobile operators to bring programmability to the RAN and help accelerate the adoption of open RAN. Location: VMware Booth No. 3M11.
