Wind River announced the development of a 5G vRAN solution that integrates Intel FlexRAN reference software to help operators address major challenges such as integration and complexity.

Wind River recently announced the development of a 5G virtual radio access network (vRAN) solution that integrates Intel® FlexRAN reference software for systems powered by 3rd Gen Intel® Xeon® Scalable processors in conjunction with Wind River Studio. By combining proven optimized software and platform components, the solution will help operators adopting vRAN address major challenges such as integration and complexity.

Prospective customers and vRAN solution providers will be able to review evaluation packages that include Intel FlexRAN reference software pre-integrated with Wind River Studio, simplifying and accelerating customers’ 5G vRAN pilots and deployments. This announcement builds on the recent release of Intel® Virtualized Radio Access Network Select Solutions on Wind River Studio.

Verizon achieved a new 5G milestone by completing the world’s first end-to-end fully virtualized 5G data session. The joint solution builds on Intel and Wind River’s work on this project.
