The two companies will provide integrated 5G digital front-end (DFE) ASICs with RF transceivers and will collaborate on next-generation radio unit (RU) solutions including baseband and RF technologies.

Matt Murphy, CEO of Marvell, said: "Marvell's leadership in baseband, digital ASICs and transport processors combined with ADI's RF transceiver technology creates an industry-leading architecture for 5G OEMs seeking fast time-to-market requirements. The complexity driven by 5G RUs, increasing massive MIMO deployments and mmWave spectrum all pose unique challenges to RF and radio network design. To achieve the low power, small size and low cost requirements of 5G, RF and mixed-signal technologies must be optimized using digital ASICs and baseband silicon. The combination of Marvell and ADI's best-in-class technologies enables highly optimized RU designs to meet standard requirements and customer customization."
