According to @Pudong, Shanghai Dalian Road Tunnel will complete 5G network coverage in October 2019. This is China's first 5G cross-river tunnel.
The report said that the Dalian Road Tunnel in Shanghai is 2.5 kilometers long and is an important cross-river tunnel connecting the northeast corner of Puxi and Pudong in Shanghai. At the end of October this year, the tunnel will be covered with 5G network, becoming China's first 5G cross-river tunnel.
Officials said that the 5G network tunnel is one of the pilot models of smart city infrastructure jointly built by China Unicom and Tunnel Co., Ltd. China Unicom has developed multiple 5G application scenarios for the 5G coverage project of Dalian Road Tunnel, including AR/VR-based operation maintenance, real-time transmission of high-definition video, and precise positioning of underground space.
China Unicom also stated that in the future, it will explore the establishment of a networked perception platform based on 5G and IoT core technologies for the daily operation and maintenance of urban ground roads, elevated expressways, underground tunnels, and underground space facilities.
