According to Bloomberg, Apple's next-generation 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro models equipped with M2 Pro and M2 Max chips are under development and testing, and these MacBook Pro models may be released later this year.

Gurman said in today's Power On newsletter that Apple's plan is to release the new MacBook Pro as early as this fall, but as always, the release date may be delayed due to supply chain disruptions or other reasons.

In response to this, analyst Ming-Chi Kuo said that mass production of the new MacBook Pro will begin in the fourth quarter.

While some reports have suggested the M2 Pro and M2 Max chips could be Apple's first 3nm chips, it now looks increasingly likely that these chips will remain at 5nm.

But these chips will have improved performance compared to the M1 Pro and M1 Max chips in the current 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro models as Apple is expected to switch from TSMC's standard 5nm process "N5" to a more advanced 5nm process "N5P."

The M2 Pro and M2 Max chips may also see an increase in GPU core count and memory compared to their M1 chip counterparts.

There are rumors that there will be no major changes in the design of the 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro. Considering that Apple just launched a completely redesigned laptop in October 2021, this seems to be in line with Apple's usual common sense.

The previous new design includes the return of ports such as MagSafe and HDMI, an upgraded 1080p camera and a thinner bezel display with a notch.

There are also rumors that a new Mac mini with an M2 Pro chip may be released this year, as well as a new Mac Pro desktop performance machine with M2 Ultra and M2 Extreme chips.
