On March 29, Fibocom released the embodied robot development platform Fibot to help customers quickly reproduce and verify the Stanford Mobile ALOHA robot. As an upgraded version of the first domestically produced Mobile ALOHA robot, the development platform adopts an omnidirectional wheel chassis design and a detachable training arm structure, giving the arm more degrees of freedom and arm span, and realizes an Andid/fusion system, making it easier for customers to develop and verify software and algorithms.
"Embodied intelligence will be a key application deployed on the edge in the future, which will greatly improve the efficiency and quality of human life and work," said Zhang Xuanshun, General Manager of Fibocom AIC Management Department . " Fibocom's embodied intelligent robot development platform Fibot has underlying capabilities such as perception, vision, positioning and navigation, and motion control, which can better enable customers to combine AI and robots. With the breakthrough progress, the evolution of embodied intelligence will become a new highland for change and an accelerator for economic development."
Fibot, the Fibocom embodied intelligent robot development platform, meets the needs of customers to verify Mobile ALOHA collaborative learning and simple teaching operation data, so as to learn the advanced mobile operation function algorithm of the robot arm.
At the same time, the development platform can also realize the secondary development of algorithms such as indoor and outdoor space perception and mapping, path planning and dynamic obstacle avoidance through the optional lidar or binocular module of the chassis.
This development platform also integrates a variety of reinforcement learning AI algorithms, combined with an efficient perception system and an intelligent decision-making framework, which greatly improves the efficiency of customers' secondary development.
It is worth mentioning that Fibot uses Fibocom's high-computing power intelligent module SC171 as the main control.
SC171 is designed based on the QCM6490 solution. QCM6490 uses an 8-core high-performance processor with a computing power of up to 12TOPS, which can efficiently calculate and process data; it integrates a variety of AI algorithms to help terminals realize edge computing and AI features.
Li Junjie, Director of Product Marketing at Qualcomm said: " Qualcomm and Fibocom have maintained a long-term close cooperation in the field of AIoT. This time, Qualcomm's advanced high-performance and low-power IoT solutions are used to support Fibocom in building a new embodied intelligent robot development platform, which demonstrates the joint commitment of both parties to actively promote the popularization of terminal-side AI and edge computing. We look forward to working with Fibocom and more ecosystem partners to seize new industry opportunities under the wave of AI and make intelligent computing ubiquitous."
Structurally, the embodied intelligent robot development platform Fibot adopts an innovative omnidirectional wheel chassis design, which enables it to rotate or translate in place in a narrow space ; the detachable training arm structure design facilitates customers to conduct actual testing and deployment after completing algorithm development. In addition, compared with the original Stanford Mobile ALOHA solution, the platform gives the robot arm more degrees of freedom and arm span, and optimizes the rated load capacity of the robot arm by more than 150%, improving the development platform's adaptability in complex scenarios or tasks.
Thanks to the above excellent performance, Fibot, the embodied intelligent robot development platform of Fibocom, can help robot manufacturers to conduct secondary development of software and algorithms, enabling embodied robots to be widely used in manufacturing, household services, smart logistics and other scenarios. As the AI development ecosystem continues to develop, this development platform will provide commercially available soft foundations for more robot terminals.
The launch of Fibot, the embodied intelligent robot development platform, demonstrates the rich achievements of Fibocom's technology and product research and development in the field of robotics, and is also a concentrated reflection of Fibocom's deep cultivation in the field of AI. With the improvement of computing power and the continuous optimization of software and hardware, Fibocom will provide more AI solutions for the robotics industry and join hands with industry partners to create the next wave.
