Beijing, China (October 16, 2024) - GigaDevice (stock code 603986), an industry-leading semiconductor device supplier, announced that its
GD32F30x STL software test library has obtained the IEC 61508 SC3 (SIL 2/SIL 3) functional safety certification issued by TÜV Rheinland (hereinafter referred to as "TÜV Rheinland"). This is the second time that GigaDevice has obtained such certification after the GD32H7 STL software test library
. This means that GigaDevice's layout in the field of functional safety has fully covered the software test libraries of Arm® Cortex®-M7 core high-performance MCUs and Arm® Cortex®-M4 core mainstream MCUs, which will provide users with more abundant product choices in industrial applications. This series of achievements highlights GigaDevice's unremitting pursuit and firm commitment to product safety and reliability, and also shows the company's professional strength and advancement in the field of functional safety.
The GD32F30x STL software test library is dedicated to providing security for the safe operation of the GD32F30x series MCUs. It can quickly identify random hardware failures by monitoring the operating status of core components such as the internal CPU/DPU, FPU, and MPU, and regularly checking memory areas such as SRAM and Flash. If a failure is detected, the GD32F30x STL software test library will immediately trigger the preset safety response mechanism to put the MCU in a safe state, thereby reducing potential risks and buying time for users to resolve and repair system failures. At the same time, detailed documents including FMEDA and safety manuals are also provided to ensure that the product meets specific safety requirements during the design, development and production process.
Mr. Li Baokui, CTO and General Manager of MCU Business Unit of GigaDevice said: "With the continuous deepening of industrial automation and intelligence, the importance of functional safety has become increasingly prominent. GD32H7 STL and GD32F30x STL have successively passed the IEC 61508 SC3 (SIL 2/SIL 3) functional safety certification, indicating that GigaDevice has established a mature management system in the field of functional safety, which is of great significance for consolidating the comprehensive competitiveness of GD32MCU products and helping users to develop products that meet functional safety standards in a shorter time. At the same time, the certification work of the GD32MCU software test library based on the Arm® Cortex® M33 core is also being promoted simultaneously. We will continue to benchmark international standards and continue to promote the company's technological progress and product upgrades."
Mr. Zhao Bin, General Manager of Industrial Services and Information Security, TÜV Rheinland Greater China , said: "Congratulations to GigaDevice on its second TÜV Rheinland STL functional safety certification! GigaDevice has made persistent investments in functional safety construction and demonstrated its persistent pursuit of strict safety standards, which we highly appreciate. In the future, we will continue to uphold professional technical requirements, follow rigorous certification processes, and continue to deepen cooperation between the two parties to help GigaDevice achieve more new breakthroughs in the field of functional safety."
