According to US media, analysts said that the US crackdown on Huawei may make Apple, which has already hit a wall in China, face greater difficulties and iPhone sales in the world's largest smartphone market may slow further.
China is the main assembly site for iPhones, and about one-fifth of Apple's revenue comes from the Chinese market.
When trade tensions arose between the United States and China late last year, some economists said Chinese consumers had unofficially boycotted American products, including the iPhone. After Apple reported disappointing holiday sales, Apple CEO Tim Cook blamed Trump's trade war in part.
Dan Ives, an analyst at Wedbush Securities, said that due to the US ban on Huawei, iPhone sales in China may decrease by 3%-5% in the next 12 to 18 months. Apple's stock price closed down 2% on May 21.
The report noted that according to Lynx Equity Strategies, Chinese public sentiment could affect Apple's sales in the country and could cause the company to miss its third-quarter earnings expectations. Apple did not respond to Bloomberg's request for comment.
