According to foreign media CNET, Apple is developing a head-mounted display. Apple has not revealed any exact information about the rumored AR glasses, but through the Focals smart glasses previously released by North, it seems that some news about Apple's AR glasses can be seen.
In October 2018, Canadian company North released its first smart glasses, Focals, which look similar to ordinary glasses. Through the reflection of the focusing lens, the image can be focused into the user's eyes; coupled with the role of the projector, the image in the user's eyes will be projected into the real world and eventually become an object. It uses Bluetooth to pair with the user's iOS or Android phone and is charged using a special portable case. Apple's AR glasses may adopt the smart focusing technology of Focals smart glasses.
In March this year, TF International's Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo said that Apple's AR glasses will enter mass production at the latest in the second quarter of next year. He said that Apple's first generation of AR glasses will rely on the iPhone, similar to the Apple Watch. In addition, two years ago, analyst Gene Munster believed that for Apple, the research and development of AR glasses is more important than the iPhone.
As early as 2017, Apple launched an AR development platform called ARKit, and Apple also added many AR-related features in the iOS system update. Apple seems to regard AR products as a breakthrough for future development. Apple's research on AR technology is lagging behind. After all, Google launched smart glasses as early as 2012. Apple's AR glasses still have a long way to go.
