Many fuel car owners refuse to buy electric cars for the following four reasons: too short a range, too long a charging time, low safety index, and reduced range in winter. Two of these four reasons are related to range.
There is really no way to solve the problem of long charging time for the time being, because if you want to shorten the charging time, you must have a stronger cable. And considering the bearing capacity of my country's power grid, it is not realistic in the short term. On the contrary, the development of solid-state batteries is a more realistic idea.
For example, Toyota has made a lot of promises in recent years. This year, it said that it would be successfully developed next year, but next year it was pushed to the year after next. As a result, it has been pushed back year after year, and we still haven’t seen Toyota’s solid-state battery released. It was not until the main force of China entered the market that people realized that the era of solid-state batteries has really arrived.
Recently, many media reported that a total of six companies, including CATL, BYD, and Geely Auto, will receive support from the country and make every effort to complete the research and development of solid-state batteries. This shows that the research and development of solid-state batteries has become a strategic priority of the country.
Prior to this, Japan and Germany have done quite well in the research and development of solid-state batteries and have achieved some remarkable results. If they can really be the first to develop solid-state batteries, then China's new energy vehicles, which are still in a dominant position, are likely to be overtaken by them.
This means that China and foreign countries are now racing against time. Whoever can seize the initiative will have the right to set the standards for solid-state batteries. By then, China's dominant position in new energy vehicles will no longer be shaken.
What are the advantages of solid-state batteries? Unlike current liquid batteries, they have a very compact internal structure and are small in size. If they are used in new energy vehicles, they will at least double the range of electric vehicles.
The charging speed and battery cycle life of solid-state batteries are much better than those of liquid batteries. Theoretically, it only takes 12 minutes to charge 80%, and the cycle life can reach about 45,000 times. Even if the car is broken, the solid-state battery will never be scrapped.
Solid-state batteries hardly burn, and will not explode even if hit hard. There will be no electrolyte leakage because there is no liquid inside, and they can work normally even at low temperatures.
Currently, countries around the world are trying to research solid-state batteries. Toyota Motor Corporation often releases news about major breakthroughs in solid-state batteries, which has indeed greatly whetted people's appetite.
In my country, Guoxuan High-tech recently launched a new product, Jinshi solid-state battery, and announced that their solid-state battery will be tested in small batches in 2027, and if all goes well, it will be mass-produced in 2030.
CATL announced their solid-state battery plan and believes that small-scale production can be carried out in 2027. Zhiji Auto has already equipped its new model Zhiji L6 with the first generation of Lightyear solid-state batteries.
In fact, compared to the car manufacturers' driving assistance systems or car system interior decoration, I still hope that everyone can solve the battery problem. After all, it is the most realistic thing to let everyone have no range anxiety and no longer worry about the car spontaneous combustion.
