On March 8, there was a breakthrough in domestic automotive chips, and the first automotive-grade AI chip is about to be officially put into mass production.
Horizon Robotics published an article on its official WeChat account: "Chinese chips, driving the future of intelligent driving." It is reported that the protagonist this time is its automotive-grade chip " Zhengcheng II ".
The "Journey II" was officially released in August 2019. The chip integrates Horizon's second-generation BPU architecture (Bernoulli architecture), which can provide 4 TOPS equivalent computing power, with a typical power consumption of 2W. It can more efficiently and flexibly realize the processing of multiple types of AI tasks, and perform real-time detection and recognition of multiple types of targets. It can be applied to intelligent driving scenarios such as autonomous driving visual perception, crowdsourcing high-precision maps and positioning, visual ADAS , and intelligent human-computer interaction. More importantly, Horizon provides users with a complete tool chain for the second generation of the journey to help them use open enabling services. In terms of performance, the chip supports passive heat dissipation and a T-junction with a maximum temperature of 125°C. Combined with Horizon's optimized perception algorithm, the chip BPU utilization rate can reach more than 90%.
It is understood that ADAS products are expected to be installed in mass-produced models starting in mid-2020. In comparison, the second generation of the Journey will be put into mass production in the near future, which is also a major breakthrough for domestically produced automotive chips.
Yu Kai, founder of Horizon Robotics, also recently stated: In order to accelerate the implementation of ADAS, Horizon Robotics still adheres to the value of customer first even during the epidemic. At present, Horizon Robotics has fully ensured customer needs such as product support and technical services through remote resumption of work, and continues to fully promote core research and development. In extraordinary times, Horizon Robotics will turn difficulties into opportunities to move forward, run at full speed, and embrace the future!
