[Repair] Repaired a data cable [Copy link]

Recently, a 5A USB port was loose, so I fixed it based on the idea that electronic engineers should do more hands-on work (poor, no money, can't bear to throw it away). The effect is quite satisfactory, but there is still one last step.

Finally, the welding is done. All that’s left is to glue it together or put on a heat shrink tube.

Some data cables have chips inside, doesn't this one?

High-end ones have chips, but the gimmick is greater than the practical significance  Details Published on 2022-7-29 20:55

The welding technology needs to be provided. There are a lot of burrs between the solder joints.

Comments

Yes~ The last time I touched a soldering iron was the last time. It has been a long time since I touched a soldering iron. My hands are so inexperienced. But I used a multimeter to test it repeatedly and found no short circuit.  Details Published on 2022-7-29 08:20

It is not enough to just put on the heat shrink tube, you need to glue it inside

Comments

Do you have any recommended glue? I think the space in the middle is super small. Should I dig a little first and then add glue? I need some advice~~~  Details Published on 2022-7-29 08:22

This can also be repaired, you are an ass

That's what poor people do. If you don't have money, you have to think about repairing it~~~  Details Published on 2022-7-29 08:21

I haven't touched a soldering iron for a long time. My hands are so useless.

But I tested it with a multimeter and it was not shorted.

It's good to have it repaired. But I'd better buy a few more on Pinduoduo as backup.  Details Published on 2022-10-19 14:35

Generally, in this case, it is easy to break even after repair. It is better to replace it. There are many data cables with free shipping for a few yuan.

Need glue or heat shrink tubing? As a poor man, shouldn't I use a soldering iron to melt the rubber on the wire and apply it on?

Comments

The rubber is hard to shape, so it is cut flat.   Details Published on 2022-7-29 20:57

I applied some hot melt glue, but it doesn't seem to last long. The data cable has reached the end of its life.

Comments

I feel like it can be used for a long time, the 5A wire diameter is OK  Details Published on 2022-7-31 08:44

You can buy a new plastic part, it will look better and it is also cheap.

Comments

It costs money to buy a new one, so I might as well just make do with it, hahaha.  Details Published on 2022-7-31 08:43
